Dr.M.Chenniappan is a Cardiologist par excellence. His distinguished service, as Cardiologist is well recognized in the State of Tamil Nadu India. He was awarded the prestigious Dr.R.V.Rajam’s Gold Medal for being the University First Rank holder in Internal Medicine MD. He also stood first in DM (Cardiology) at Madras University, Chennai, India. He hasauthored over 19 scientific papers in reputed indexed journals and over 20 scientific papers in non indexed journals. He has been rewarded with many distinguished orations, medals and appreciations.

The zenith of his carrier is his untiring effort to conduct training courses in the field of Cardiology, Electrocardiography, Echocardiography and practical tips in cardiology. He conducts training classes for practioners, consultants, rural doctors, undergraduate and Post Graduate students. He has reputation of excellent teacher as visiting faculty of Cardiology to Rajah Muthaiah Medical College, Annamalai University, Tamil Nadu, India. Adjuct Professor of Tamilnadu Dr M G R Medical University,Hony Professor of IMA College of General Practioners. He also hold the prestigious posts of Member of senate and Syndicate of Annamalai university, Chidambaram.

The students derive inspiration from his extraordinary quality of keeping knowledge updated and get motivated the students that learning is a continuous process. He has the unique honour of recognition as distinguished and noble doctor by various forums, Lions club and various reputed associations for his outstanding and dedicated community service in organizing camps for the public to screen for the early cardiac disease as well as for his public awareness programmes. He has actively participated in International, national and regional conferences. He had been one of the Principal Investigators for many famous international trials, like CREATE,POISE studies.

His remarkable contributions in the academic career are the publications of CDs simplifying complicated ECG, Echocardiography and a book on Practical tips in Cardiology. He has written chapters in reputed books in Cardiology of international standards. His strength, character, courage and conviction have earned great reputation in the heart of Doctors and People.

He sacrificed his comforts in weekends for teaching the rural doctors to empower them in the management of Cardiac emergencies and other cardiac conditions. Humility is his another great quality. The Ecg and Echo club of Trichy is his brain child which serves as the learning forum for rural and mofussil practioners for the last 15 years. The classes are conducted every week. The presdious Dr G Ananthasubramaniam endowment lecture named after his Professor is conducted every year for the last 10years . The Ecg and Echo club of Trichy is a trust now and through heart care fund it serves many poor patients for their medical care.
